Western Europe Basic Print and Managed Print and Document Services Forecast, 2017-2021
This IDC study covers the Western European MPDS and BPS market with 2016 revenues of $4.9 billion and $8.2 billion, respectively. Their projected CAGRs are 4.6% for MPDS and 5.3% for BPS."At a time when vendors are speculating about when print volumes will fall and how to compensate for lost revenues associated with these volumes, forming contractual relationships with customers is the best solution to secure recurring supplies and services revenues, but they must be prepared to accompany customers on their journey to workflow automation and optimization. Competition will be fierce as vendors entrenched in the SMB market protect their markets from competitors that have historically focused on the enterprise market and are now turning their attentions to smaller customers. To avoid a price war in all customer engagements, vendors need to differentiate their offerings based on innovative solutions and services that directly address the needs of their target markets. As technology development accelerates, vendors need to be sufficiently agile to continuously improve their engagement with customers and increase share of customer wallet.IDC expects to see heightened activity among vendor and channel market players that will transform the market. It will result in a variety of hybrid print services contract types and business models, with the stronger players morphing into a variety of different services companies — from managed IT services to workplace innovation solutions providers and enterprise content management providers."
