This IDC Market Perspective discusses the transformation in the digital textile printing market. The market for digitally printed textiles is too large to ignore but has been slow to develop. Through the first half of 2020, in large part because of the COVID-19 crisis, shipments of digital textile printers declined when compared with previous years. However, as economies and markets recover and as more manufacturers rethink traditional supply chains, it may mean that digital textile printing's time has finally come."The digital textile printing market is simply too big to ignore," says Tim Greene, research director, Hardcopy Solutions at IDC. "Manufacturers in the large format market have got to earn their share of the textile business, which we expect to undergo digital transformation at an accelerated rate coming out of this COVID-19 crisis."
