The RSA Security Conference 2018: The Industry Matures?

This Market Note encompasses IDC's thoughts on the 27th RSA Conference held April 16–20, 2018, in San Francisco. The RSA Conference is traditionally the place where network security vendors, DevOps teams, and cloud and infrastructure service providers make product announcements; the splashier, the better. In past shows, the elevated stakes produced high drama (Raytheon purchases Websense and CrowdStrike brings suit against NSS Labs are examples of events occurring near the RSA Conference). However, RSA 2018 appeared to be illustrative of an industry that has matured following the reality created by zero days, targeted attacked, and new malicious monetization enablers. New themes did emerge about zero trust, compliance, cryptography, and MDR and how larger ecosystem security partnerships might work.
