Perspective: The Time Is Now for PLM Analytics

This IDC Manufacturing Insights Perspective looks at the need for product life-cycle management (PLM) analytics to support manufacturers in today's complex, dynamic market. Most of today's PLM systems have reporting capabilities to track, report, and enable decision support on product development processes: Am I on time with my product launch? Are my employees doing their jobs? Are my suppliers responding in a timely fashion? But analytics supporting the entire product life cycle has not been prevalent: from design and engineering to manufacturing process planning and manufacturing execution to supply to quality and service.
