Modern Applications and Their Influence on/by Modern Infrastructure
This IDC Perspective discusses the relationship between modern applications and modern IT infrastructure and explores how next-generation infrastructure would influence next-generation application design methodologies. Application design patterns and supporting infrastructure have always influenced each other mutually. Modern applications and modern infrastructure are no different. With modern applications beginning to push the limits of modern infrastructure, next-generation infrastructure would enable next-generation applications to be not limited by the limitations of Moore's Law."As modern application design and development paradigms continue to evolve based on modern infrastructure premises, they also influence how next-generation infrastructure capabilities would look like," said Sriram Subramanian, research director, Infrastructure System, Platforms, and Technologies Group at IDC. "Next-generation infrastructure would be able to support next-generation opportunistic applications that are not limited by hardware constructs such as ISA, servers, VMs, containers, or serverless."
