U.S. Mobile Phone and Smartphone Installed Base Forecast, 2024–2028
Description
U.S. Mobile Phone and Smartphone Installed Base Forecast, 2024–2028
This IDC study analyzes the installed base of smartphone users in the United States by operating system (OS). It combines IDC's extensive knowledge of smartphones, smartphone users, subscribers, subscriber growth, and challenges and opportunities for different operating systems. The findings in this document are based on information gathered from primary and secondary sources during the past six months."The minimal growth of the installed base this year will trend throughout the forecast period as the U.S. market shifts to replacements rather than new buyers," said Anthony Scarsella, research director with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker. "Premium models continue to lead the way in the U.S. market as consumers utilize trade-in and financing to afford these flashy flagships. However, with higher prices come longer refresh cycles as many new premium flagships start to offer six to seven years of software support along with improved build qualities and durability."
