Japan System Management End-User Survey 2015This IDC study investigates the state of and issues related to systems operations management faced by Japan companies, and provides both an analysis of the findings and an outlook on the future of systems operations management. The adoption of DevOps, which has been attracting attention recently, as well as issues involved in its adoption, have also been included in the survey and analysis. The analysis of IDC Japan's Software and Security Research Manager Mitsuhiro Iriya is this: "The biggest obstacle preventing the adoption of DevOps is the differences in organization and culture that separate development and operations departments. The first thing a vendor should work on is to have a shared management of different schedules and tasks for each, and methods for knowledge sharing and communication. In order to do that, vendors need to provide a common platform and use it for project management and communication. Such platforms are often provided and implemented through open source software and cloud services. Since this also makes it possible to keep initial investments down, IDC believes that this will be effective in terms of cost effectiveness as well.IDC Opinion Methodology Definition Executive Summary Essential Guidance Synopsis
