Japan IT Security Forecast, 2021−2025
This IDC study analyzes the Japan IT security market and provides a forecast from 2021 to 2025. Companies are entering a period of uncertainty because of the various changes in workstyles and business formats caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To overcome this uncertainty in business management, it is necessary for companies to develop businesses that meet customer needs. For that purpose, data-driven businesses are required, such as those that grasp customer needs by utilizing data, those that share data with partner companies, and those that manage business through data analysis. In data-driven businesses, active data utilization is required by expanding the use of various applications. As data-driven businesses progress, various applications will be linked, and security breaches caused by lateral movement will become more serious. Therefore, application protection is an important security measure. "IT suppliers should promote application protection solutions that combine context-based identity and access management (IAM) with external threat protection measures, such as endpoint security, software-defined perimeter (SDP), and web application firewall (WAF). By doing so, companies will be able to strengthen their access user IDs with external threat protection measures in enterprise applications with many context information. For web applications with little context information, companies will be able to strengthen their user ID access using context-based IAM, such as multifactor authentication," says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
