Google Wins Race to Open the First Hyperscale Datacenter in Switzerland

This IDC Market Note covers Google's recent launch of a new cloud region in Switzerland. Google is the first public cloud hyperscaler to do so, and this launch brings Google's count up to 19 regions globally and 6 in Europe. IDC believes that it is an important step for Google to be the first public cloud hyperscaler to open a datacenter in Switzerland, as it gives the company a head start to capture pent-up demand in the Swiss market and take advantage of public cloud benefits such as scalability, cloud-native application development, and innovative PaaS while being able to store data locally in Switzerland.
