Datacenter Manager Survey 2015: Operational Challenges and Investment Trends

This IDC study summarizes the results of the Japan Datacenter Facilities Survey conducted in February 2015, which explored the status of datacenter (DC) management and the spending sentiments of companies in Japan. "Datacenter facilities" refers to datacenter buildings, power facilities, and cooling facilities.

Japan is witnessing a shift from enterprise datacenter (eDC) to commercial datacenter (cDC) capacities. DC operators are spending more to optimize/restructure existing DCs as they build new facilities. "It is important for IDC operators to focus on solutions for cDC restructuring/optimization," says Mimei Ito, research manager, IT services, IDC Japan.
