Canadian 3D Printing Forecast, 2015–2019
This IDC study provides the Canadian 3D printing market outlook, including a forecast for the installed base of 3D printing machines by category (desktop and industrial), unit shipments by price band/technology, and the revenue generated through 3D printing systems-related materials and other associated services. The document also highlights key considerations for technology suppliers in this burgeoning and complex market as well as some of the drivers and inhibitors to growth throughout the forecast period."While consumer applications for 3D printing continue to generate hype and are largely the source of global recognition, the real opportunity remains in design, prototyping, and industrial applications," says George Bulat, research director, IDC Canada's Client Hardware. "The versatility of 3D printing allows for applications in a variety of vertical markets and, although the technology itself is unlikely to replace any existing large-volume manufacturing processes, it will change the intangible costs that are associated with product development and delivery. Parts that were not possible to manufacture through traditional processes previously may be done so using new and innovative 3D printing techniques."
