A bearing locating ring consists of a strip of elastic material (eg, a metal like spring steel) that is rolled up such that the ends face each other to form a ring gap through its circumference. One or more rows of projections may be formed around the ring, the projections extending radially inward and/or outward from the ring. In use, the projections may be compressed between the shaft and the walls of the bore. Each protrusion can act like a spring and exert a radial force on the components, thereby providing an interference fit therebetween. Bearing locating rings can aid assembly as they compensate for manufacturing tolerances on the shaft and/or bore.
