The HTCC (High-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) substrate market refers to the global industry focused on the production and application of multilayer ceramic substrates that are manufactured by co-firing alumina (Al₂O₃), aluminum nitride (AlN), or mullite-based ceramic green sheets with high-melting-point metal pastes such as tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), or manganese (Mn) at sintering temperatures of 1650–1850 °C in a hydrogen atmosphere. Originally commercialized in the early 1980s by IBM for high-density mainframe computer circuit boards, HTCC substrates are characterized by their excellent mechanical strength, thermal stability, hermeticity, and ability to support high wiring density and short interconnect lengths. Unlike LTCC (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramics), which uses silver, gold, or copper metallization and is fired in air at 850–1000 °C, HTCC is designed for high-reliability, high-frequency, high-power, and harsh-environment electronic applications, including aerospace, defense, automotive electronics, industrial equipment, and advanced telecommunications.
