The most widely used FGD methods include wet, dry and semi-dry desulfurization. Wet desulfurization is the most common type. It removes SO2 efficiently by introducing flue gas containing SO2 into an absorption tower and reacting with limestone or lime water solution to produce calcium sulfite or gypsum precipitation. The desulfurization efficiency can reach more than 95%.
