In engineering terms, it is a multilayer composite material—typically single-sided or double-sided—comprising an LCP film (as the low-loss, low-moisture dielectric), copper foil (rolled-annealed or electrodeposited, as the conductor), and a bonding architecture that may be adhesive-less (direct lamination via heat and pressure with surface activation) or adhesive-based (with a thin tie layer) depending on target peel strength, bend reliability, and high-frequency loss. LCP-FCCL is selected when the design requires simultaneously low dielectric constant and dissipation factor at microwave to mmWave bands, very low moisture uptake, high thermal stability, and tight dimensional control driven by low and anisotropic CTE behavior; these attributes make it a mainstream substrate option for 5G mmWave modules and antennas, RF front-end interconnects, high-speed flexible interposers, and compact flex assemblies where PI-based FCCL can face higher RF loss or moisture-related drift.
