Analysis by Region - Emerging Markets - Congo Republic
Description
Congo's oil production has trended upwards this year, reaching its highest output in two years in September at 277,000 bpd. Additionally, the near-term outlook remains positive due to substantial current and planned investment by private oil companies. However, we think that the government's plans to raise production to 350,000 bpd in 2026 are overly optimistic. Instead, we expect that production will average 271,000 bpd in 2026, marking a break from the multi-year decline from 332,000 bpd in 2019. Whereas our production outlook has improved, we remain cautious about future oil prices. We maintain our previous forecast that oil prices will decline into 2026, averaging $64.3 pb, compared with $69.8 pb this year.
