Description

Analysis by Region - Asia Pacific - Malaysia

We have lowered our 2022 GDP growth forecast by 0.2ppts to 5.9% to reflect slower export growth due to the fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Covid lockdowns in China. We still expect the end of coronavirus pandemic-related restrictions, the reopening of borders, and fiscal stimulus will underpin a strong recovery in domestic demand. As the gap between the recoveries in services and industry narrows and supply chain disruptions ease, we look for GDP to grow by 6.3% in 2023
