Worldwide Order Management Market Shares, 2015: Distributed Order Management and Omni-Channel Impact Market
This IDC study discusses the worldwide market for order management software. This market declined at a moderate pace (-4.0% in 2015 over 2014) to reach $2.55 billion. The negative growth in this market and other enterprise resource management (ERM) markets was caused by the strength of the U.S. dollar in comparison with foreign currencies and the demand shift to cloud offerings. When normalized to constant currency, the growth is 4.0%. This normalized growth in the order management market was also driven by the need for omni-channel "buy anywhere, fulfill anywhere" processes in digital commerce. As the digital commerce world evolves, so too does the demand for modern order management applications. "Order management software solutions are increasing in significance because of the rise of the distributed order management requirement, driven by the omni-channel shopping experience in both B2B and B2C. Businesses must answer the customer's requirements to buy and fulfill anywhere in the world, and that depends upon the order knowledge. Flexibility is critical to answering the 'anywhere customer order' business model; modern cloud order management solutions are the enabler for the omni-channel world," says Mickey North Rizza, program vice president for Enterprise Applications.
