Worldwide Order Management Forecast, 2015–2019
This IDC study examines the market for order management software that is growing at a moderate pace (with a CAGR of 6.7%, it's expected to reach 3.7 billion by 2019), driven by demand for public cloud offerings and digital commerce. Demand for public cloud software (CAGR of 21.2%) is clearly outpacing on-premises/other software (CAGR of 2.1%), but the on-premises market remains significant as medium-sized and large enterprises are choosing to maintain existing software rather than disrupt the critical process of order management that is integrated to many other applications."The order management process is the revenue pipeline for all businesses as most everything they sell has a sales order attached. Digital commerce is an important driver of order management software as the rise in omni-channel shopping in both B2B and B2C fuels a demand to buy anywhere and fulfill anywhere depends on knowing where the order is," says Christine Dover, research director for Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce. "Increasingly, organizations of all sizes are looking to cloud solutions that provide flexibility for changing business models in the omni-channel world."
