Still Waters Run Deep: Enterprise Data Lakes Revisited
This IDC study provides IDC's assessment on enterprise data lakes. The concept is still in its early stages but is slowly taking shape as a unified repository for structured, semistructured, and unstructured data. Storage suppliers are tackling this market on several fronts: by acquiring data aggregation firms, by partnering with suppliers building data lake capabilities into Hadoop, by investing in open source projects like Spark and Hive and, finally, by positioning their storage systems for unified data and in-place analytics capabilities.
