U.S. SMB Telecom Voice and Data Market Shares, 2016: Cable Putting Pressure on Telcos
This IDC study analyzes and forecasts the fixed-line revenue for telecom voice and data services in the U.S. small and medium-sized business (SMB) marketplace. This study provides IDC's definitions of SMB and fixed-line telecom voice and data categories, and it presents a 2016 market share analysis of the top telecom providers impacting the small and medium-sized business markets."Competition for telecom services is heating up across the SMB markets," says Jason Blackwell, research director of SMB Telecom Services at IDC. "Cable operators are putting pressure on telco competitors with high-speed internet services, forcing them to extend fiber deployments. This pressure will continue as DOCSIS deployments increase in 2017, pushing cable broadband speeds even higher and making legacy DSL connections less attractive for SMB customers."
