This IDC Market Perspective provides IDC's viewpoint on investments made by leading public cloud service providers in offering AMD EPYC-based infrastructure-as-a-services instances. Key examples include Oracle's introduction of AMD EPYC–based Compute Standard E2 platform as a generally available public cloud IaaS offering and Amazon Web Services announcing the general availability of new general-purpose and memory-optimized instances powered by AMD EPYC processors. "With EPYC, AMD has expanded the compute options available for performance and scalability based on the tried and tested industry-standard x86-based architecture," said Deepak Mohan, research director, Cloud Research, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms and Technologies at IDC.
