Linked Utilization of Public Cloud Services and On-Premise IT Infrastructure 2016: Big Issues for IT Leaders
This IDC study analyzes the issues with public cloud service usage in the context of enterprise IT infrastructure, based on interviews with IT buyers.IDC Japan Enterprise Infrastructure Research Manager Masayuki Shimokawabe says, "Companies are increasingly using public cloud services. However, issues with the use of public cloud services have come to light. Hardware vendors should propose means of resolving the issues faced by IT buyers without delay. Hardware vendors responding to the problems of IT buyers would mean the vendors equipping their solutions with various application programming interfaces (APIs) related to processing linkages between public cloud services and on-premise IT infrastructure, as well as equipping them with automated configuration functionality. In other words, bolstering support for software-defined infrastructure (SDI) in hardware vendors' products and contributing to the achievement of optimization of IT buyers' enterprise IT infrastructure will become areas of focus for hardware vendors."This study is a translation of the Japanese document IDC #JPJ40596616 and is summarized to reduce the gap in time since the original version was published. All of the following sections are, however, fully translated:IDC OpinionMethodologyDefinitionPast Data RevisionExecutive SummaryEssential GuidanceSynopsis
