“Japan users are embracing Big Data technologies but the pace of adoption is slow compared with other 3rd Platform technologies like cloud, mobility, and social platforms, which are penetrating at explosive rates. Awareness about Big Data also does not seem to be growing. One reason is that Big Data technology itself requires scale. Other issues are a shortage of professionals and the inadequacy of existing proposals. To resolve these issues, IDC believes it is necessary that service providers continue to work on both the manpower and service aspects,” says Shintaro Kusachi, market analyst, Software & Security, IDC Japan.
