Description
The Impact of Geopolitics on Asia's Semiconductor Supply Chain: Trends and Strategies
This IDC study analyzes the status and impact of geopolitics on the semiconductor market. In recent years, the world has faced unprecedented tensions, and geopolitics has become a key factor for the semiconductor industry and semiconductor companies. The worldwide semiconductor industry encounters both impetus and resistance as various countries develop their own chip acts for relevant restrictions and for the implementation of their semiconductor subsidies and preferential tax policies. Wafer manufacturing and packaging and testing-related manufacturers have made new arrangements in the United States, Asia, and Europe under the influence of those two factors, forcing the semiconductor industry chain to go through a new wave of regional transfer. This wave of impact on the industry and related manufacturers, as well as the future direction of industry development, is the focus of this report. "Geopolitics has created strong push and pull forces, causing a new wave of regional shifts in the semiconductor industry chain. Countries will pay more attention to the autonomy, security, and controllability of their own supply chains. Although geopolitics will not have an immediate impact on business, in the long run, it will be an increasingly important consideration and key to the development of the semiconductor industry in addition to market, efficiency, and cost" says Helen Chiang, lead of Asia/Pacific Semiconductor Research.
