Description
Hardcopy Vendor Financials, 1Q22: Supply Shortages Continue to Stymie Growth
This IDC Market Perspective contains excerpts from public financial disclosures by leading hardcopy vendors and details the impact of COVID-19 and supply chain issues on performance and forecasts."Supply chain challenges continued in the first quarter, as microchip shortages, container shortages, and port delays were complicated by a COVID-19 lockdown in China and the onset of the Russia-Ukraine War. To maximize revenue and profit in the near term, vendors are allocating a greater share of limited resources to higher-margin products. However, with the supply chain crisis expected to extend into 2023, proactive vendors are not simply waiting for a return to normal. Instead, they are reengineering their product offerings to reduce reliance on the scarcest resources and turning to air freight for strategically important product categories when shipping delays would be unacceptable." — Geoffrey Wilbur, research manager, Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions at IDC
