The Forces of Connectedness

The Forces of Connectedness

This IDC Perspective reviews the forces that shape the future of connectedness, as viewed from the supply and demand sides. The challenges of delivery are all about new networking technologies that will fuel the future of connectedness. These supply forces include aspects such as the move from hardware- to software-centric networks, manageability, scalability, and network security. On the demand side, customer requirements form a picture of the idealized network and the outcomes it enables. These include interoperability, flexibility, and pervasiveness."The interplay between these forces will shape the connectedness continuum, which is one of the key pillars of digital transformation," said Carrie MacGillivray, group vice president and general manager of Worldwide Telecom, Mobility, and IoT research, and Chris Barnard, vice president of IDC European Infrastructure and Communications.
