European Software Survey: Security Concerns to Shape Europe Enterprises' Cloud Service Selection
This IDC study presents results of IDC's 2015 European Software Survey. The survey asked 1,451 IT decision makers and influencers from small, midsize, and large enterprises about their IT and business priorities, spending plans, and software procurement processes. It also examined their plans and attitudes regarding a number of software trends, including cloud computing, mobile devices, Big Data, IT security, and social software in the enterprise. This study specifically looks at cloud security concerns and compares it to the 2014 survey. It also provides actionable advice for IT vendors and buyers.
"Cloud services are seen not just as more efficient replacements for older compute platforms, but also as a revolutionary solution that has changed how enterprises function. However, concerns about the reliability of cloud service providers, data security, and privacy capabilities remain key concerns, with issues such as data breach, data loss, and unauthorized use of cloud (i.e., shadow IT) among the top concerns," said Archana Venkatraman, senior analyst, IDC European Storage. "These concerns do not seem to hinder cloud adoption at this early stage of maturity — we believe they will play a much stronger role in vendor and service selection going forward."
