Cisco Expands Security Offerings on Network, Cloud, and Services to Enable Digital Transformation

This IDC Flash looks at Cisco, which announced on its most recent quarterly results analyst call a formal shift toward the operating areas where it expects to see the strongest growth opportunities — that is, its most lucrative areas, services and the Internet of things (IoT).IDC remains positive about the growth opportunities for Cisco as it transitions to a SaaS/software model, particularly in relation to enterprise digital transformation. This shift was highlighted during July's C-Scape analyst event and its larger Cisco Live! Las Vegas event for customers and partners. The main topics addressed at these events were security, IoT, and cloud services. Significantly, David Goeckeler, who runs the security business (and now Networking too), was the only executive to take the stage alongside Chuck Robbins for his first keynote as CEO. As laid out by Goeckeler and Robbins at these events, Cisco's ambition in the near future is to make cybersecurity less complex and more useful, wrapped around the theme of digital transformation.
