Changing Business Landscape Boosts Team Collaboration Apps
This IDC Market Perspective provides an overview of collaboration software in Europe. The collaboration scenario in enterprises is changing due to the rise in remote workers and project-based work with tight deadlines. This is leading employees to collaborate across multiple channels from different parts of the world more frequently. This is also ushering in a new genre of collaborative applications. "As geographically dispersed employees are pulled in to work on different projects under strict deadlines in a very competitive market, the need for communication tools that can cope with the fast pace of communication flow is becoming ever-more important," said Oru Mohiuddin, research manager, European Unified Communications and Collaboration. "Emails and videoconferencing have been around for a while to facilitate collaboration among colleagues, but these traditional channels are not designed to address the contemporary nature of enterprise communications. Team collaboration apps, on the other hand, integrate multiple communication modes into one platform to suit different work scenarios, thus they are better equipped to cope with the intensity and frequency with which employees communicate in a present-day enterprise. This does not mean emails and video conferencing will cease to exist — instead, these tools will be used for more specific purposes."
