Key Highlights
  • In the first 100 days of his second term, Donald Trump blew up eight decades of global trade rules with the imposition of a 10% global baseline and a reciprocal tariff framework, plus sizeable tariffs on strategic sectors. These measures have disrupted global supply chains and created significant uncertainty for businesses worldwide, while also eroding consumer sentiment (which fell to an almost five-year low in the US in April). The focus for the next few months will be on how companies navigate the new set of ‘reciprocal tariffs’, announced on August 1, 2025, and if the Trump administration keeps to these revised figures.
  • Consistent with findings in our May and June 2025 Tariff Sentiment Poll reports, the business community’s sentiment on tariffs continues to be mostly negative. However, a sizeable minority sees opportunities in their implementation. Businesses in July were far more optimistic than in recent months, as a flurry of trade deals came through to ease concerns.
Scope
  • GlobalData is running 14 polls on its Verdict and Business Trade Media International networks of B2B websites. The polls are still live at the time of writing, but this report analyzes data captured between April 10 and July 31, 2025. In total, the 14 polls received 10,747 responses. We have categorized the poll questions into four distinct groups for our analysis: concerns and challenges, business outlook, pricing, and investment and procurement.

How Do Licenses Work?

The primary function of a report license is to define how many people within a company are authorized to use the purchased report. This is separate to how a report might be delivered. Unless specifically identified otherwise, the purchase option is Single User. Below is a helpful description of that license, along with a sampling of others most commonly offered.

  • This license allows only one user to have access to and to use/read the report. It is not one user at a time or one user group; it is an individual who will be reading and utilizing the report.

  • This license allows for the entire purchasing company to read and use the report. This is the license level that would allow for a report to be placed on an internal company shared drive for access by all employees of that direct company. This license does not extend to parent or sister company use.

  • This license is designed to allow an entire department within a company full access to a report. The departmental license is a great option for companies that have more than one location and the department is spread out all over the country/world

  • This license is for companies that have one location where they want the report to be accessible by all employees within that physical location.

  • This is the most flexible of the licensing options. Some publishers will allow you to get a license for a preset number of people (typically 5). These licenses are ideal for small work groups.
