They can do this by selecting Nubank from the payment methods menu. This action directs users to the Nubank app, where they can choose between a credit or debit card for payments.
- The BCB is incorporating a range of new features into Pix to enhance its utilization. In November 2024, the bank launched Pix by Proximity for Google Wallet users; enabling contactless payments at NFC-compatible terminals. Subsequently, in February 2025, a tap-to-pay feature was introduced which allows users to make contactless payments by tapping their smartphones on POS terminals. Most recently, in June 2025, the BCB introduced Pix Automatico; a new recurring payments feature that enables users to authorize automatic payments for utilities, subscriptions, and more with a single consent.
- The uptake of alternative payment solutions that offer security and convenience is rising in Brazil. Google Wallet launched in Brazil in July 2024. It allows NFC-enabled Android devices to store debit and credit cards for payments. In addition to online and in-store payment functionality, Google Wallet allows users to store tickets, boarding passes, keys, and IDs. If users have a debit or credit card saved to their Google account, the card automatically appears within Google Wallet. To add a new card, users select the ‘add a card’ option. After verifying the card information, users can pay in stores that accept contactless payments via Google Wallet. To make in-store payments, users unlock their smartphone and place it over the NFC terminal, which automatically detects the default card.
