Roofing
Description
Roofing
US demand for roofing is projected to rise 1.4% per year to 265 million squares in 2023. Reroofing activity, especially in the large residential market, will spur gains. The US features a large stock of structures with roofing materials that are at or near their expected product lifespan and will soon require repair or replacement. In many cases homeowners will opt for products that are more durable or attractive that the materials that were originally installed, supporting value gains.
This report covers roofing demand by product, market, application, and US Census region and subregion. Data is given for all products in area terms (squares) and value terms (US dollars, priced at the manufacturers’ level). The report also identifies leading market participants and looks at some of the factors that will affect roofing demand going forward.
Demand is broken out for the following product types:
Asphalt shingles (laminated, high-performance laminated, three-tab)
Metal roofing (standing seam panels; shakes, shingles, and tiles; and corrugated panels)
Bituminous membranes (polymer-modified bitumen membranes and standard roofing felts)
Plastic single-ply (TPO membranes, PVC membranes, and other membranes)
Rubber (EPDM, CSPE, neoprene, and butyl and other)
Roofing Tile (concrete and clay)
Wood Shingles and Shakes
Small Volume Roofing Products (spray polyurethane foam, slate, composite, tensioned fabric,
vegetative, solar roofing, fiber cement, concrete, and corrugated asphalt panels)
And for the following markets and applications:
Residential (new and reroofing)
Commercial (new and reroofing)
And for the following US Census regions and subregions:
Northeast (New England and Middle Atlantic)
Midwest (East North Central and West North Central)
South (South Atlantic, East South Central, and West South Central)
West (Mountain and Pacific)
