Major US companies include Baker Concrete Construction, Ceco Concrete Construction, Stewart Builders, and United Forming; other leading companies include Byrne Brothers (UK), Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (the Netherlands), and units of larger global construction groups such as Laing O'Rourke (UK).

China and the US are among the world's largest markets for construction, including concrete and masonry contracting. Other major markets include Japan, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy. Demand in India and Brazil is growing as urbanization continues.

The US concrete and masonry contracting industry includes about 37,000 establishments (single-location companies and units of multi-location companies) with combined annual revenue of about $60 billion.
