The UAE is experiencing significant growth in the market for IoT medical devices, fueled by its ambitious digital transformation initiatives, considerable government investments in healthcare, and an increasing focus on preventive care for its citizens. The nation is witnessing a rise in life expectancy alongside a growing prevalence of chronic illnesses. For instance, the International Diabetes Federation has indicated that 17.3% of adults in the UAE are affected by diabetes, marking one of the highest rates worldwide. Additionally, cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of non-communicable disease fatalities, responsible for 34% of all deaths.
The UAE's Digital Government Strategy 2025 and the Ministry of Health and Prevention's strategic framework for 2023–2026 are promoting the integration of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things in the healthcare sector, which is accelerating the adoption of connected medical technologies. A significant area of growth is in remote patient monitoring. In February 2024, Clinitouch launched its remote monitoring technology in the Middle East, with a Riyadh-based company spearheading its implementation. This technology allows healthcare providers to monitor patient vitals and health conditions from a distance, thereby minimizing hospital visits and improving the management of chronic diseases.
At the same time, smart hospital initiatives are transforming healthcare delivery. In January 2025, Emirates Health Services unveiled five innovative healthcare solutions at Arab Health, including an AI-driven Operation Theatre Dashboard and a predictive model aimed at reducing readmissions, both designed to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi has reported a 10% decrease in energy consumption due to its sustainable building practices, which utilize AI and IoT to optimize operations, as noted by TERN Group in April 2025. These strategic investments and technological advancements are establishing the UAE as a leader in IoT-enabled medical technologies in the region.
