Global & Switzerland IoT Medical Devices Market to 2033
Description
Thailand is experiencing significant growth in the market for IoT medical devices, fueled by proactive digital health initiatives, an increasingly aging population, and a strong emphasis on developing smart hospitals and telemedicine services. The United Nations has classified Thailand as an aging society, with projections indicating that by the end of 2025, 21.2% of the population will be aged 60 and above. This demographic change is driving a heightened demand for home healthcare and remote monitoring solutions for chronic illnesses.
The Thai government is actively fostering digital transformation in healthcare through its Thailand 4.0 vision and the Digital Health Strategy (2021–2025) set forth by the Ministry of Public Health. This strategy focuses on enhancing telemedicine infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved regions, and on training local professionals in digital health. Telemedicine usage has surged, with a study published in PMC in June 2025 revealing that 63.63% of respondents had utilized telemedicine applications. Additionally, an analysis of telemedicine service usage from December 2020 to April 2023, published by HITAP, indicated that over 110,000 unique patients accessed these services, with hypertension being the most frequently reported condition.
At the forefront of IoT adoption are smart hospital initiatives. Siriraj Hospital, in collaboration with Huawei, has introduced the Siriraj World Class 5G Smart Hospital, which aims to serve as a model for smart hospitals by leveraging 5G, AI, and cloud technologies to enhance operational efficiency and patient experience. This includes innovations such as 5G-enabled self-driving vehicles for transporting medical supplies and smart emergency rooms. Other hospitals are also integrating robotic and AI technologies to improve patient care and operational effectiveness. For example, in August 2023, Mahidol University, Siriraj Hospital, and True Corporation launched an AI Smart Logistics project for the 5G Smart Hospital, focusing on the development of 5G cloud computing and AI technologies for managing drug storage and transportation. These strategic efforts, combined with the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, position Thailand as a rapidly growing market for IoT medical devices.
