Global & Nigeria Dialysis Equipment Market to 2031
Description
The dialysis equipment market in Nigeria is experiencing substantial growth, driven by a high prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and an increasing demand for renal replacement therapies. This growth is largely attributed to the rising incidence of CKD, which has become a significant public health challenge in the country.
In response to the growing demand, efforts are underway to expand dialysis facilities nationwide. As of January 2025, Nigeria had 36 dialysis centers, most of which are independently owned. Lagos State leads with 16 centers, followed by Imo State with 4, and Enugu State with 3. These centers are progressively adopting advanced dialysis technologies to enhance treatment outcomes and patient care. For example, in November 2023, the Redeemed Christian Church of God donated a newly constructed dialysis center to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Ogun State, which was officially opened by the state governor. This initiative highlights the increasing involvement of both the public and private sectors in addressing the dialysis needs of the population.
However, challenges persist, particularly in rural areas where access to dialysis services is limited, healthcare infrastructure is underdeveloped, and there is a shortage of trained medical professionals. Overcoming these obstacles will require greater investment in healthcare infrastructure, medical staff training, and policies that ensure equitable access to dialysis services across the country. Addressing these issues is essential to meeting the rising demand for dialysis and improving the quality of life for those affected by CKD in Nigeria
