The country has also invested in homegrown innovations, such as the Hinotori Surgical Robot System developed by Medicaroid, which has received regulatory approval for clinical application. The Hinotori system boasts a compact design, high-definition imaging, and multi-joint arms, and is utilized in facilities like Mahkota Medical Centre for urological surgeries. Training and credentialing for robotic surgery in Japan are managed by national surgical societies and enhanced through simulation-based education. Surgeons must complete a rigorous certification process before they can operate robotic systems, ensuring high standards of practice. Robotic systems are integrated into both public and private healthcare facilities, featuring modular designs that allow for adaptable deployment. Japan's accomplishments in this field, along with supportive regulatory measures, underscore its position as a leader in robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery, with a healthcare strategy that prioritizes precision, safety, and accessibility.
