Global & France IoT Medical Devices Market to 2033
Description
Greece's market for IoT medical devices is in its early stages but is progressing, driven by a strong governmental initiative towards digital transformation in healthcare, despite past difficulties in achieving comprehensive digitalization. The emphasis is on upgrading infrastructure and enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services. In January 2025, the Greek Ministry of Health, in partnership with the WHO, introduced the National Strategy for Quality of Care and Patient Safety 2025–2030. This strategy aims to establish a health system that is high-quality, equitable, efficient, and centered around patients, with support from Greece's Recovery and Resilience Plan and the EU Cohesion Policy.
Greece has acknowledged the necessity to enhance its digital health standards, as indicated by the 2025 Black Book of Global Healthcare Information Technology report, which ranks it among the lowest in Europe for digital health performance. Only 14% of Greek healthcare providers surveyed reported having access to integrated digital health records in routine care, highlighting a significant area for improvement.
Telemedicine represents a crucial sector for the adoption of IoT technologies. Greece has an operational National Telemedicine Network (EDIT), featuring 66 Patient Doctor Telemedicine Stations situated in hospitals and health centers, especially in remote regions. Numerous consultations for chronic conditions are also conducted, showcasing the potential for IoT-enabled remote patient monitoring.
Although Greece currently lacks a comprehensive national strategy for quality care, the emphasis on Empowerment through Digital Health within its broader health initiatives reflects an increasing acknowledgment of the importance of IoT. There is a significant market opportunity for vendors providing secure patient portals, mobile health access, and solutions for managing chronic diseases and preventive care. Investments are being directed towards the development of 5G networks and the digital transformation of public administration and businesses, which will indirectly bolster IoT applications in healthcare. However, challenges such as interoperability and cybersecurity persist, creating a demand for solutions that can bridge the gaps between public and private sectors and modernize outdated systems. Greece's expenditure on medical products is projected to rise to US$ 5.07 billion (€4.34 billion) by 2028, up from US$ 3.67 billion (€3.14 billion) in 2023, indicating a growing demand for medical technology, including connected devices.
