The dialysis equipment market in Argentina operates in a landscape shaped by an aging population, which, at over 12% of individuals aged 65 and above in 2023, contributes to a higher incidence of chronic conditions, including various kidney diseases. Beyond the common causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD), a range of other factors significantly contributes to the burden of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring dialysis. These include a considerable number of cases linked to conditions like glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidney disease in adults, obstructive uropathy, and, notably in the pediatric population, hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which was identified in a January 2025 report as a leading cause of pediatric ESRD in Argentina.
The Argentinian Renal Registry (RADIC) plays a crucial role in tracking renal replacement therapy patients, with reports like the Informe 2024 (featuring data for 2023, published in November 2024) and Informe 2023 (with 2022 data, published in February 2024) offering detailed insights into patient demographics, treatment methods, and the underlying causes of kidney failure. Although the total number of individuals receiving dialysis for 2023–2025 is still being updated, these reports consistently highlight a significant patient population requiring chronic dialysis due to the diverse range of kidney conditions. This underscores the ongoing and growing demand for dialysis equipment and consumables throughout Argentina’s healthcare system.
