Survey of the European yarn fairs for autumn/winter 2026/27
Description
The European yarn fairs for the autumn/winter 2026/27 season were well attended. They acted as a showcase for the key trends in colour and design for the season, and they offered displays and presentations of the latest innovations in fibres, yarns and knitwear. In terms of colour, tones of deep brown will be key, brooding shades of khaki green will be important, and enlivening varieties of burgundy will be popular. That said, there is evidence that colours which are icy and cool will be of some significance for the season. In terms of fibres, biodegradable fibres proved to be popular at the fairs. Especially important were polyester yarns which offer a level of biodegradability. At the same time, imitation fibres were prevalent, and artificial or cellulosic fibres which mimicked animal fibres, noble fibres and other natural fibres were key. There was a major focus on fibres made using recycled materials derived from textile waste, and traceability was a key consideration for many exhibitors in the design and production of collections on display.
