Tetraalkoxysilane is a class of organosilicon compounds with the general formula Si(OR)₄, where R represents an alkyl group, such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, etc. In the molecular structure of this type of compound, the central silicon atom is connected to four alkoxy groups (-OR), and the unique structure endows them with many special chemical properties.
