LiFSI Electrolyte Salts, chemically named Lithium Bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide, is a high-performance lithium salt electrolyte with a molecular formula of LiN(SO2F)2 and a molecular weight of approximately 187.07. It is a white crystalline powder or a colorless liquid (when dissolved in an organic solvent) and is widely used in lithium-ion batteries, lithium metal batteries, supercapacitors, and next-generation energy storage devices. Its excellent ionic conductivity (conductivity can reach 10 mS/cm at room temperature), thermal stability, and wide electrochemical window (4.5-5.0 V vs Li/Li+) make it an ideal choice for high-energy density batteries. For example, in high-nickel ternary batteries (NMC811), LiFSI is used as an electrolyte component to improve cycle life and low-temperature performance; in solid-state batteries, it is combined with polymer or ceramic electrolytes to enhance ion mobility. The production process requires the reaction of high-purity fluorosulfonamide with lithium compounds, protected by an inert atmosphere (argon or nitrogen), with a purity of usually ≥99.9%, and impurities (such as water<10 ppm, chloride<50 ppm) detected by ion chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance.

LiFSI has outstanding performance in the field of new energy, but its advantages and disadvantages have triggered discussions on technology and the market. Supporters believe that its high conductivity and stability have promoted the advancement of battery technology. For example, at a low temperature of -20°C, the ion migration number of LiFSI electrolyte is higher than that of traditional LiPF6, which extends the range of electric vehicles in cold areas; in high-voltage batteries, its wide electrochemical window reduces side reactions and improves energy density.
