However, it is prone to decomposition in an acidic environment.

Alpha - arbutin can inhibit the production and deposition of melanin, remove spots and freckles, and also has antibacterial and anti - inflammatory effects. Due to its excellent whitening effect and relatively high safety, it is widely used in the fields of cosmetics, health products, and drug research and development. Cosmetics is the largest downstream application field, accounting for more than 90% of the global market share.
