Acetate Tow is a fiber bundle made of cellulose acetate, which is widely used in the manufacture of cigarette filters. It also has certain applications in textile, industrial and other fields. Its fibers are soft and have certain filtering functions. Through its porous structure, it can effectively capture harmful substances in cigarette smoke, such as tar and nicotine. Although it cannot completely remove all harmful components, it plays an important role in reducing the harm of smoke. The raw materials of acetate tow are derived from natural plant fibers (such as wood pulp), which are converted into cellulose acetate through chemical reactions, and then made into fiber bundles through spinning and post-processing (such as heat treatment, cleaning, compression). It presents a slender and loose shape and is easy to process into various forms.

The main characteristics of acetate tow include its flexibility, transparency and durability, which make it practical in many industries. In cigarette filters, acetate tow fibers are usually specified in total denier (ktex), with a common range of 20,000 to 40,000, of which 30,000-35,000 denier types dominate the market, accounting for about 49% of the market share. This specification of tow ensures its filtering effect and processing performance by controlling fiber length, density and surface structure. In addition, acetate tow has gradually attracted attention in the textile industry for its gloss and silkiness, especially in the production of high-end fabrics and non-woven fabrics (such as sanitary napkins and medical textiles).

From the production process point of view, the manufacture of acetate tow involves dissolving cellulose acetate and extruding it through a spinneret to form continuous filaments, which are then cooled, solidified and processed into bundles.
