Analysis by Region - Emerging Markets - Burkina Faso
Description
Elevated gold prices and lower inflation have helped to maintain economic growth in Burkina Faso, although global uncertainty and local political instability have acted as a damper. We forecast real GDP to grow by 3.7% in 2025, a slight increase from our previous forecast of 3.6% in March. Nevertheless, this is still below the IMF’s most recent projection of 4.2% as we believe that political violence will continue to weigh on GDP. Violence has continued to intensify under the rule of Captain Ibrahim Traoré since he seized power in September 2022.
