Description

The global eDrive System market size is predicted to grow from US$ 114330 million in 2025 to US$ 359850 million in 2031; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 21.1% from 2025 to 2031.

The impact of the latest U.S. tariff measures and the corresponding policy responses from countries worldwide on market competitiveness, regional economic performance, and supply chain configurations will be comprehensively evaluated in this report.

The eDrive system is a complete electric drive unit that powers an electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid vehicle. It covers everything a vehicle needs to travel without a gasoline engine. It is mainly composed of several key parts such as batteries, electric motors, motor controllers, and reducers, which are integrated into a compact and efficient powertrain system.

The core of the electric drive system is battery, motor, and electronic control, which account for more than 55% of the vehicle cost. The three electrics are the three major parts of new energy vehicles, and the battery accounts for about 40% of the vehicle cost. From CTM (cell to module, battery monomers are integrated into battery modules), MTP (module to pack, battery modules are integrated into battery packs), to CTP (cell to pack, battery monomers are integrated into battery packs), CTB (cell to body, battery monomers and body integration), and then to CTC (cell to chassis, battery monomers and chassis integration), from blade batteries, Kirin batteries to Luban batteries, it's so lively.

The motor accounts for about 6.5% of the vehicle cost, and the electric drive assembly system based on it accounts for about 10% of the vehicle cost, mainly including motors, motor control units (motor controllers), and reducers. This is often called a three-in-one electric drive assembly.

Previously, mainstream suppliers and OEMs at home and abroad were developing three-in-one passenger car electric drives. Bosch, ZF, Denso, Schaeffler (also four-in-one, plus thermal management), Vitesco Technologies, Magna, BorgWarner, Nidec (formerly known as Nissan), BYD, Shanghai Huayu, Changan, Dongfeng and other companies were pioneers.

The earliest electric drive system was a separate arrangement of components, connected by wiring harnesses, and the drive system seemed complicated. With the breaking of technical barriers, especially the development of the new energy vehicle technology market, the integration of electric drive systems has become a trend. From a technical perspective, the technological progress of electric drive systems revolves around power, energy efficiency, high integration, cost, noise and other fields. Among them, improving electric drive performance is one of the key links to improve the power of the whole vehicle, cruising range, and ensure safety and reliability. The electric drive system of electric passenger cars faces the challenges of reducing size, reducing weight, increasing sales and ensuring high-voltage safety and reliability.

Since 2021, old and new car-making forces such as SERES, Huawei, BYD, Leapmotor, XPT (a subsidiary of NIO), Tesla, Nissan, Changan, Dongfeng, GAC, and JAC, as well as ecological chains such as Vitesco Technologies have all released three-in-one and multi-in-one electric drive technologies and products. Even Nanjing Iveco, which makes light commercial vehicles, has announced that its new product is equipped with a six-in-one electric drive. Cummins, which makes commercial vehicle power chains, has also introduced its three-in-one electric drive axle into China and started mass production.
