Tungsten carbide roller ring, also known as hard alloy roller ring, is a type of hard material and an important component with high consumption in steel bar and wire rolling.tungsten carbide roller rings are produced by powder metallurgy using tungsten carbide powder and cobalt powder (with the addition of small amounts of other hard phases or alloying elements) as raw materials. The production process is as follows: alloy material preparation - compression molding - vacuum sintering and HIP hot isostatic pressing - flat grinding rough machining - ultrasonic non-destructive testing - flat grinding precision machining - grinding inner holes - grinding outer circles - chamfering processing - slotting (including threaded grooves) - laser marking - comprehensive inspection - packaging and delivery. With the development of automation and intelligent steelmaking rolling in the metallurgical and steel industry, the requirements for rolling speed and roll material are becoming increasingly high. As one of the hardest metal rolls currently available, tungsten carbide roll rings have a rolling speed generally above 75m/s, with the highest rolling speed reaching 120-140m/s. Therefore, they are widely used in high-speed wire rod mills. Factors such as key minerals and export controls are superimposed, and the uncertainty of the supply chain increases. Steel mills and roll mills are more inclined to sign annual frameworks, lock prices, and prepare stocks from multiple sources to hedge risks. Due to the dual drive of cost and compliance, the recycling of scrap cemented carbide has become more popular, and more closed-loop systems for recycling tungsten have begun to be introduced at the roller ring end to reduce dependence on primary tungsten and stabilize supply.
