Global Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyurethane Market Growth 2026-2032
Description
The global Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyurethane market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1497 million in 2025 to US$ 2509 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.6% from 2026 to 2032.
Global sales of short glass fiber reinforced polyurethane reached 709,000 tons in 2025, with an average price of US$2,155 per ton.
Short glass fiber reinforced polyurethane (SGF-PU) is a composite material made by uniformly dispersing short-cut glass fibers (<5 mm in length) as the reinforcing phase in a polyurethane matrix formed by the reaction of isocyanate (MDI/TDI) and polyol, through one-step foaming or injection molding. It combines the flexibility, wear resistance, and low-temperature resistance of PU with the rigidity of glass fiber, and is mainly used in automotive interior parts, functional brackets, and thermal insulation structures.
Raw material cost structure: Polyurethane system (MDI/TDI + polyether/polyester polyol) approximately 2.2–2.6 USD/kg, accounting for 60–70% of the formulation; chopped glass fiber (≤6 mm) 1.6–1.9 USD/kg, accounting for 25–30%; the remaining 5–10% consists of foaming agents, catalysts, silicone oil, coupling agents, and other additives; the total raw material cost is approximately 2.3–3.0 USD/kg, of which the matrix resin contributes 55–65%, glass fiber 20–25%, and additives and losses 10–15%.
