Sheath heaters typically feature diameters ranging from 6.5 mm to 12.5 mm and lengths from 50 mm up to over 2000 mm, with power ratings between 100W and 5kW and voltage options spanning 12V to 480V. They operate across low, medium, and high watt densities—from below 10 W/in² for viscous fluids to above 30 W/in² for metal block heating. Common sheath materials include stainless steel (up to ~750°C), Incoloy 800/840 (up to ~870°C), copper (for water heating, up to ~200°C), and titanium (for corrosive liquids), while the internal insulation is typically magnesium oxide (MgO) for high thermal conductivity. Resistance wires are usually made of nickel-chromium (NiCr) or iron-chromium-aluminum (FeCrAl). Mounting options include flanged, threaded, clamp-on, or over-the-side, with rapid heat-up times and thermal uniformity within ±2–5°C when paired with appropriate controllers.
